Garbage balloon

I saw a piece of garbage on the beach today, one that bothered me more than litter usually does. It was a balloon. The reason that balloons tick me off is because, when they are released they often end up in the ocean. Once that happens, the color leaches out of the latex, and it ends up being somewhere between milky-white and clear. That, combined with the attached ribbons, makes this particular trash look just like lunch (jellyfish) to turtles, who therefore eat it and often die as a result. So now you know why I'm not a fan of those cutesy balloon releases.
