Just a quick post to let everyone know that three of the Melrose Pyrotechnics staff have now been confirmed to have died as a result of their injuries from the explosion yesterday. Here's an article with the latest.
[Update from Sunday evening: four of the staff have now passed away. The fifth man has been upgraded to "fair" condition.]
Another update: the parade planned for 3 PM will be a silent one as a memorial/honor to the victims of yesterday's events.

Kati, I found your blog while searching for info about the explosion on Ocracoke. My family and I have come to Ocracoke each summer for more than 1o years. I love Ocracoke, and my heart goes out to all of you there now. Even though I don't live there, it feels like my second home. Thank you for keeping us informed. It was wonderful to read your blog; I'd like to follow it so that I can keep an ear out for what's happening on Ocracoke. Thank you!
