I'm lucky
...to live in a place where if you are scatterbrained (like I can be, more often than I would like to admit) and therefore leave something quite valuable (such as, say, your iPhone), in a public place (for example, the Post Office), it's more likely to be turned in than stolen.

Do you have service on your iPhone in Ocracoke or do you have to drive to the north end of the island to use it? Just wondering if ours will work this year. Thanks! Jodi
Hi Jodi - AT&T still does not have service on Ocracoke (although I have heard that they are working to add it, but I have not heard a timeframe), so your iPhone will work (as a phone) only at the north end as you mentioned but not in the village. I use my iPhone as a PDA and iPod touch, effectively, as I don't have phone service on it at all. I do use the WiFi capability of it at home and at the Coffee Company, so I can enjoy some of the mobile functionality.
I am blessed and lucky to call Ocracoke Island, NC home. Ocracoke is beloved of residents and visitors, and I hope this blog will be a way for folks to keep in touch with what's going on here, both in general and in my life specifically. It's a fix for your Ocracoke jonesing!
