I mentioned in a recent blog that the Bodie Island lighthouse is undergoing some renovation. In case you're curious for more details, here's some info and photographs I recently received in email.
The crane is at the site now and will lower the cut pieces of iron work on the top of the tower. They will be sent to Florida where a cast will be made of each piece. The iron will then be melted and poured into the mold so that the original ironwork will be used in the restoration.
