Have you always lived on OI?
I thought the coffee shop stayed open all year. Do they take a break in the winter?
Hi Debbie - yes, the Coffee Shop does indeed take a break for the winter. I think they closed sometime in November last year, but don't remember for sure. I'm glad they are open again!
Anonymous - no. I have lived on OI for slightly over 6 years now. (Visited frequently for the 12 or so years before that.)
I wondered b/c I was pretty sure you posted a picture of it in the snow with lights. Did I make that up? :)

Debbie, that makes sense, and no you didn't make that up. I did indeed post a photo of the Coffee Shop with their Christmas lights on the bushes shining through the snow. They left their lights up (and I guess they were on a timer because they came on every day at dark) even after they had closed for the winter. They actually only took them down in late March when they started getting ready to reopen!
Anonymous - you're welcome, and thanks. I love readers who want to hear about Ocracoke! I try to write all about it - or at least my life and experiences here -which recently have been full and plentiful, which is why the blog is so behind.
