The weather here has been crazy lately. Lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s, and predictions of the 80s on Friday! It's really difficult to decide what to wear.
Hope things are more stable wherever you are...

Tide, tide everywhere
We've had some odd weather here for the last few days, including some really high tides. This morning, as I was driving Connor to daycare, I thought I must have lost my mind and not heard it raining last night, because I noticed puddles in the road. Then I realized it wasn't rainwater, it was water from the Sound. There were several watery spots (all the usual "low places"), so getting to the daycare was slow going.
If you're ever on the island and notice puddles, be sure to drive through them slowly, since you may not know for sure that it's not salt water. Salt water and cars don't mix well!

Aaaaawwww
There are kittens at the Post Office, and they are (of course) adorable. I can't make a quick trip to the PO anymore, because I always have to stop and watch them playing. So cute! I want to bring the orange one home with me. (I had an orange and white cat named Sammy for years, and I loved him very deeply. I miss him loads, but I think I'm ready now (3 years later) for another orange and white boy.) Anyway, I'm not sure this one will be my next feline friend, as all of these kittens are fairly skittish and hard to get near.

Chilly
All of a sudden, it's downright chilly here. I had to pull out the winter clothes! I'm not ready yet... Fall, please come back.
On another note, the only good thing about chilly weather, especially at night, is that it usually comes along with very clear skies, which makes for fantastic star gazing. I woke up in the middle of the night recently (courtesy of one of my cats), glanced out a window, and promptly got up to go outside. It was amazingly beautiful. The stars were abundant and seemed even brighter than usual. I stood there for a few minutes and just looked. But only a few minutes...it was COLD!
Hope your nights are star-filled, wherever you are...

Girls night
I went to Cafe Atlantic tonight with my friends Sundae and April. April drove down from Hatteras, but of course Cafe Atlantic is certainly worth the trip! We weren't celebrating anything, just trying to make sure we got some good Cafe food before they close for the season. This was only April's second visit to the restaurant, so we are trying to make up for that lack in her life. :)
It was, of course, a marvelous meal. I definitely plan to go back another time or two as soon as possible. I have to get my fill to prepare for the long winter without them!
