Fresh flounder and fantastic friends

My friend Jamie got a gift of fresh flounder from a friend of hers yesterday. Lucky for me, it was more than she could eat, so she shared. But the best part of the fact that she shared the flounder wasn't actually the flounder. It was that she brought it to my house, then sat on my couch for several hours, just chatting. I love these spontaneous times spent with friends. (And the flounder was, of course, delicious, too!)

Hope you have good food - and better friends - wherever you are.

Mandolin Orange

The terrific duo Mandolin Orange played a short concert on the stage outside Books to be Red yesterday. It was fantastic!

The suggested donation for the show was $5, and I thought it was worth that and more.

Tony Trischka

I went to the Tony Trischka banjo concert this evening. Occasionally, we are extraordinarily lucky to have renowned musicians perform in our very own Deepwater Theater, and this was one of those occasions. I wasn't sure I would enjoy an entire evening of just banjo, but I did, thoroughly. Tony is amazingly versatile, playing multiple different types of music, even including a Beatles medley!

Sign of the times

There are multiple properties up for auction on the island. Just a sign that the challenges with real estate are here, as well.

Behind (again!)

I've fallen way behind with blogging again (you may have noticed!) Sorry about that!

I blame Facebook. Not that I spend that much time on it, but some nights I spend just enough that when I realize I haven't blogged yet, I also realize I'm tired and need to go to bed!

Anyway, I'm working to get caught up now...thanks for being patient!

Lovely light

The light coming through the clouds over the ocean this morning created a glowing silver line on the horizon that I thought was lovely. This picture doesn't come close to truly capturing it, but it's the best I've got!

Beach lakes

Occasionally, the combination of high tide and low spots on the beach creates little pools, which are terrific for wading in, especially with little kids. They are also lovely to photograph, although it's hard to really capture them in a picture that does them justice. I tried recently, and here are some of the results.
